aaron--thanks for your comment.

In my opinion, those who chose to leave the church over church history/doctrine can find "reason". Those who chose to follow Christ will use faith as a shield and will quench all the fiery darts of the adversary (does quench mean we're unscathed).

Is it easy, no, not by any means. The key is to go to your knees and put the burden on the Lord. Apparently this is what you did.

The Lord told us we would experience opposition in all things. Note the word "all". It shouldn't surprise us when we find opposition in our church history/doctrine. I've even experienced opposition from my children, wife, and church members, etc(tongue in cheek).

Great post. Me and my wife being here in Saudi Arabia and still be an active LDS is just so wonderful that we thought sharing our life so others can learn will somehow help. Its like sharing testimonies, through blog.

I love your post! If you're like me, I felt the Spirit prompt me to start blogging when I heard Elder Ballard's testimony. I followed it and was very naive in church history, etc. My faith was challenged and on one particular post I wrote on apostacy. Postmormon.org got ahold of that and I was bombarded with anti-mormons and ex-mormons throwing questions of doubt/history, etc. at me...it did challenge my faith but it also forced me to my knees.

I appreciate you and eveyrone else who takes time to share their thoughts online. It has strengthened my testimony in a way I don't think I'd be able to have anywhere else in the LDS church.

Amen.

We hardly conceive of the ways that we are helped once we are actually "living the gospel." Living the gospel - the doctrine of Christ - is exactly what you've outlined, it isn't another thing. It isn't appearing, speaking, or in any outward way taking on a Mormon role. It isn't being in the right vicinity. It is engaging with those principles you've outlined deep in the heart. The reason we don't do it is that our hearts are set on appearances, or the things of the world (money), or we are concerned with our personal power in relation to other people.
