Tim-thanks for sharing your insights. And yes, I believe, as you pointed out, that those who have lived close to the Lord all of their lives will draw equally close to the Master.

I wish you and yours a prosperous and happy new year.

Ah, you have quoted in your summary one of the best scriptures for determining who are the wicked in this world. And how do we come unto the Savior? Through baptism, of course. That scripture makes it clear to me that those who will not listen to the message of the Restored Gospel as presented by our missionaries and then join the Lord's kingdom through baptism remain under the bondage of sin and are wicked. Ouch!

That bondage of sin may not be personal wickedness as in a lack of moral cleanliness. It may be believing in the traditions of a false religion. It may be a general apathy towards things of the spirit cause by focusing so long on the cares and concerns of this life - like making a living. But no matter what keeps us from accepting the voice of the Lord, it is a bondage from which we need to be set free by a Savior.

I have always loved the manner in which the Savior taught us through the words he shared with Peter that those who have been forgiven of much sin, tend to have a greater appreciation and deeper love of the Savior than those who have lived lives devoid of any great sin or misdeed. This is not always the case as one can draw equally close to the Master through years of faithful and dedicated service.

Would that more people understood the message of Section 19 as a modern reaffirmation of the idea that one must suffer for their sins if they do not repent. Modern man has all but given up on the idea that there even is such a things as sin, let alone the need to repent to avoid punishment of suffering. "Why, a loving God would never cause his children to suffer," they say. "That's not fair." Yes, it is fair and more importantly, it is just, and thus the warning.

I appreciate your testimony that once we are washed clean, that no spot remains. Our garments are no less white than any other member of the church who has not committed the sins that are considered the most filthy. And yet, there are some among us in the church who have a hard time seeing it that way. They tend to remember past transgressions and not present conduct. Thank God that He has said that He will remember our sins no more. It is His approbation that we seek the most.

Thank you for this wonderful essay on forgiveness and for pointing us in the end to turn unto Christ, to believe in Him and to bow down and worship Him with all our might, mind ad strength, and our whole soul that we shall in nowise be cast out. I like that reminder and want that blessing for me and my family. We can all be clean and forgiven through Christ.
