Jared,

I love Southern California, too. Though it is changed. The last time I was there in LA, couple years back, my wife and I couldn't wait to get away. Makes me sad.

There was a commercial for California cheese several years back. A hippie is rehearsing all the good thing he recalled from 60s. "I was there, man! The love ins, the music! It's all gone now, man. Only the cheese is as it was." heh. ~

Thanks for sharing your experiences. Faith is a principle of power and it is marvelous to see it manifested.

I love Southern California. Haven't lived there in years---I have very fond memories from the 60's.

Great stuff, Jared.

When I was in my early twenties, in my first period of activity in the church, I lived in San Luis Obispo County, about half way between Los Angeles and San Francisco, along the coast. It would have been sometime about 1987 - maybe a little later. We were experiencing, as California often does, a severe drought. President Walsh, the Stake President at that time, ask that the stake fast for rain.

The weather report is easy in Southern California, especially along the coast. If there is weather coming, you can see the front approaching across the Pacific for some time in advance. There is rarely surprise weather.

The day after the stake fasted, a low pressure center formed just off the coast to the west of Pismo Beach. I recall watching the circular motion of the clouds forming on the nightly news. The next day, it rained like mad over San Luis Obispo County. Not to the north or south, and the storms dissipated over the San Joaquin Valley to the east.

There was a marvelous outpouring of the Spirit in Sunday School today - felt communally by all who came prepared.

Such thing are common, almost daily, in my life, while I am in a state of deep commitment to my baptismal covenants as expressed in the Sacrament prayers. ~
