The Eyes of Shepherd are Upon You–Cafeteria, New Order, Former…Mormons

Those who call themselves Mormon are a family. And as many of us know by experience, members of a family can be all over the place regarding their feelings towards their Mormonism.  Following is a short-list of attitudes, or the state of mind, among Mormons I am currently acquainted with:

The Savior Could There Do No Mighty Work…He Marvelled at Their Unbelief

The Savior while in mortality drew many people after Him because of the mighty works he did. However, in his home town of Nazareth the scriptures teach something different occurred there:

Eugene England’s “Reconversion” to the Book of Mormon

Eugene England wrote a book titled, Converted to Christ Through the Book of Mormon. Following is part of the introduction he wrote for the book. He makes several important observation  about the power of the Book of Mormon:

1.  To reconvert life-long church members by bringing them to Christ.

My Testimony of Jesus Christ–Our Advocate with the Father

I bear testimony of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Ghost. All those things we read about them in the scripture are true. I've received a witness of this fact. I know that Jesus Christ is our Savior and Redeemer, our Advocate with the Father.

Jesus Christ-The Son of God-Personal Friend

The Savior is a friend of mine. This can be true for all of us. The Savior refers to his followers as friends (D&C 50:41, D&C 84:63, John 15:14-15). I am a follower; therefore I think it's reasonable to call Him-my Friend.

Friendship is a two way street. Friends do things for one another. They help each other and share in the joy of their friendship. My friendship with the Savior has brought me great joy. I hope, in small ways, I've done the same for Him.

I Am No Respecter of Persons

Heavenly Father has revealed many things about himself. Among these revealed truths we learn one of His chief characteristics---"he is no respecter of persons". The Lecture on Faith teaches in order, "to exercise faith in God we must first have 'a correct idea of his character, perfections, and attributes'." The prophet listed six of these and number five says: "God is no respecter of persons, meaning that all his children in all ages will be taught the same gospel and granted the same privilege to enjoy its blessings."

What does this bit of knowledge mean to you and me? What use can you put this knowledge to, this very hour, to help you acquire greater faith?

The Savior Teaches a Unique Doctrine Regarding Forgiveness Over Dinner

It is early Christmas morning and I am reflecting on the Savior-Jesus Christ. For whatever reason there might be for the Savior to know and love a person like me is beyond my grasp to understand. I testify that He has been my friend when there is no reason I know of for His friendship. My life is unremarkable, except for the fact that He has been there so often, and led me along giving me knowledge and experiences such that I am constrained to say that He and His Father are the greatest realities of my life.

As I contemplate on these things this morning I feel a kinship with an unnamed sinner the Savior befriended and forgave.

Begging for a Remission of Your Sins

Have you begged the Lord for a remission of your sins?

First, a definition of the word "beg" may be helpful to set aside any emotional response we may have to the word. Some among us may feel offended by this word thinking that God would never require His sons and daughters, the elect; those holding the priesthood, those who have made sacred covenants in the temples, to beg.

An Invitation to Bloggernaclist to Participate in a Miracle

As I've cruised the Bloggernacle over the last eight months, I've been impressed by those who write and comment in the various blogs. Most are faithful, testimony bearing Latter Day Saints, who have done much to build up the Kingdom.

An Invitation from the Father and the Son: First and Second Comforter

We learn from the Savior about love, and the relationships that can be ours with the Father and the Son, if we really love them. From John 14:21-26 according to the Amplified Bible here.

21 The person who has My commands and keeps them is the one who [really] loves Me; and whoever [really] loves Me will be loved by My Father, and I [too] will love him and will show (reveal, manifest) Myself to him. [I will let Myself be clearly seen by him and make Myself real to him.]
