O God, Wilt Thou Make Thyself Known Unto Me?
"O God...wilt thou make thyself known unto me, and I will give away all my sins to know thee..." Alma 22:18
These few words spoken by an old man, King Lamoni; in his first prayer, are full of meaning for those who desire to know God.
Whence Cometh a Testimony?

My Testimony of Jesus Christ–Our Advocate with the Father
I bear testimony of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Ghost. All those things we read about them in the scripture are true. I've received a witness of this fact. I know that Jesus Christ is our Savior and Redeemer, our Advocate with the Father.
Jesus Christ-The Son of God-Personal Friend
The Savior is a friend of mine. This can be true for all of us. The Savior refers to his followers as friends (D&C 50:41, D&C 84:63, John 15:14-15). I am a follower; therefore I think it's reasonable to call Him-my Friend.
Friendship is a two way street. Friends do things for one another. They help each other and share in the joy of their friendship. My friendship with the Savior has brought me great joy. I hope, in small ways, I've done the same for Him.
“I Don’t Think I Believe in the Church Anymore”
"A little over six months into my [calling as a Bishop], I visited one evening with one of the brethren in my ward who suffered from what turned out, unfortunately, to be a fairly common problem. He was a good man, very active and serving in a leadership position. A returned missionary, he had been married in the temple to an outstanding woman. They had some great kids, and to every appearance they had it ‘all together' spiritually speaking. Yet he was obviously troubled as he sat down across from me, and it didn't take long to discover why.
‘I don't think I believe in the Church anymore', he said abruptly, ‘and I guess maybe I ought to be released.'" I Need Thee Every Hour, Blaine M. Yorgason, p. 83-85.
This is the Testimony Which is in Me
Those who have a testimony possess power. I think it can be compared to the power that a gifted artist possesses. In my 7th grade class there was a fellow student who could play the piano with unusual skill. He had only been playing for a few years, but he knew all kinds of music by heart, and could play with a dexterity that summoned your attention—even for non musical types. He must have been born with power in music.
Counseling God, Following Blindly, or Counseling with God
The title of this post outlines three ways we can approach the Lord as we deal with the various issues of life. I've experienced all three ways of dealing with the Lord at different times in my church life. At times I have sought to counsel Him, at other times I have followed church leaders blindly, and now I've learned, at least to some degree, how to counsel with the Lord. Following are a few things I'd like to share.
Are You in Tune with the Spirit? Three Ways to Verify Your Sources
The scripture teach that we are all influenced by “the Spirit/spirit”, but which one? Maybe this should be called the dichotomy of the spirit. Here is an example from the scriptures:
Embracing Our Individual & Unique Gift of the Holy Ghost
I’ve felt a desire to share some sacred experiences the Lord has given me. My whole purpose in sharing these experiences is to testify of Jesus Christ and the reality of the atonement. I hope by testifying of these things others will be strengthened spiritually and will be motivated to follow the Savior with full purpose of heart and receive all that He has for them.
The greatest concern I have is that those who read about my experiences will expect to receive the exact same experience in their life. I’m not sure it works that way. I think we need to explore our own unique gift of the Holy Ghost and learn how grow in it.
Writing and Commenting in the Bloggernacle
Good, better, and best are terms that can be used to describe the relative worth of competing choices. The one thing they have in common is the fact that a favorable outcome can be expected from each. However, the favorable outcomes are not of equal value. All of us come to forks in the road of life where we have choices to make from competing interest.
